Österreichischer Seniorenring

The Österreichischer Seniorenring (Austrian Seniors' Ring, or ÖSR) is one of the organisations allied to the FPÖ. It sees itself primarily as providing for the older generation a point of contact within the Freedom Party on policies related to senior citizens. The organisation was founded in 1976 as the Österreichischer Pensionistenring (Austrian Pensioners' Ring) and received its current name in 1989, in the course of a change in its statutes. The headquarters of the ÖSR are in Vienna.

The Österreichischer Seniorenring is also represented in the Austrian Seniors' Council – a non-partisan umbrella organisation of the major pensioners' and seniors' organisations in the country – and has provincial groups in all nine Austrian provinces. As is the case with other FPÖ auxiliary organisations, membership of the ÖSR is also possible. Among other things, the ÖSR offers services and organises events such as lectures and leisure activities.

The motto of the Österreichischer Seniorenring is “Ageing with dignity". The political work of the Seniorenring focuses on issues such as fair pensions; the labour market for older people; health and care; mobility; lifelong learning, and the fight against age discrimination.
