Federal presidential election 1957

At the federal presidential election of 5 May 1957, the FPÖ and ÖVP jointly nominated Wolfgang Denk, a non-party medical practitioner, as their candidate. He was defeated by Adolf Schärf, who was elected Federal President on 51 per cent of the vote.
