FJ – Freiheitliche Jugend Österreich
One of the associations closely aligned with the FPÖ is the Freiheitliche Jugend Österreich (Freedom Party Youth of Austria, or FJ). This organisation is identical with the pre-existing Ring Freiheitlicher Jugend (Ring of Freedom Party Youth, or RFJ), which adopted this new name to address its target group in a contemporary manner. It comprises the youth organisation of the FPÖ in the legal form of an association and has its own regional organisations in all nine federal provinces. It is led by a federal chairman.
The Freiheitliche Jugend Österreich offers a programme specifically tailored to the youth and to young adults. The main topics on which it focuses include the labour market for young people and challenges in the field of immigration and integration. At the same time, the Freedom Youth also offers collective pursuits that take the form of leisure activities.
The Freiheitliche Jugend Österreich is also a member of the Federal Youth Council, which is the statutory body that represents the interests of all children and young people in Austria. As with the FPÖ, the Freedom Youth also offers the possibility of membership in the relevant regional association.
The following publication on the Freiheitliche Jugend can be consulted in the Reference Library of the FBI: "60 Jahre Freiheitliche Jugend Österreich – Erinnerungen 1958 -2018" (2018).
