Dr. Johannes Hübner

Dr. Johannes Hübner has been an independent lawyer in Vienna since 1985 (Dr. iur. 1979). In 1986, he was elected to the district council of his home district of Vienna-Wieden. He is also a member of the provincial party leadership of Vienna and the federal party leadership of the FPÖ. Johannes Hübner has also held a number of other positions within the party, such as membership of the party arbitration tribunal and the functions of auditor and later treasurer of the Freedom Party Education Institute. Hübner has been a member of the board of the Freedom Party Academy Vienna since 2007 and became its president in 2020.

In 2008, he was elected to the Austrian National Council via a direct mandate. As a member of parliament, he held the position of spokesperson for foreign policy, Europe and development cooperation and was involved, for example, as deputy chairman of the subcommittee of the Foreign Affairs Committee and chairman of the Immunities Committee. Hübner held a seat in the National Council until 2017. In 2020, he was delegated by the Vienna Provincial Parliament as a member of the Federal Council. There he served, for example, as deputy chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and as a member of the Committee on Civil Rights and Petitions, the Committee on Justice and numerous other committees. He retired from the Federal Council in 2023. (as at 2023)
