Fundamentals of the European Union

From 21-22 October 2022, the 1st module of the Europe Academy, already organized for the third time by the Freedom Education Institute, took place.

Under the general topic "Basics of the European Union", the participants learned on the 1st day of the seminar from course leader Dietmar Holzfeind about the history of the European Union, the institutions and bodies of the EU such as the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council, the European Court of Justice, the European Central Bank or the European Court of Auditors. Furthermore, an overview of the political groups in the European Parliament as well as the influence of EU legislation on national parliaments was given. As a guest speaker, the former foreign policy spokesman of the FPÖ in the National Council and current Federal Councillor Dr. Johannes Hübner gave a lecture on the current political situation in the European Union as well as a report on his many years of international experience.

On the 2nd day of the seminar, the topic "EU asylum and migration policy" was discussed. For this there was a lecture of an employee of FPÖ head of delegation in the EU parliament Harald Vilimsky. Among other things, the participants were also given a current overview of the refugee situation in the EU.
