EU Foreign and Security Policy
Module III of the Europe Academy
The third module of the Europe Academy took place in Vienna on 20 and 21 May 2022
After the welcome address by the programme director Dietmar Holzfeind, the first day included a lecture by Dr Albrecht Rothacher, a former EU diplomat and expert on Eastern Europe and East Asia. Afterwards, the participants worked in groups to analyse the CETA and MERCOSUR trade agreements before presenting the advantages and drawbacks of the respective agreements.
The second day of the course was devoted to lectures on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and on security policy, in particular the role of NATO and Austrian neutrality. The Green Deal and the Paris Climate Agreement formed another thematic focus. Speakers included staff from the Identity and Democracy (ID) grouping in the European Parliament.
