Summer Reception of the Latin America Society
Educational Projects and Outlook for Austria’s Latin America Policy
The summer reception of the Austrian Society of Friends of Latin America, the Austria-Paraguay Society and the Political Academy of the FPÖ took place in the festive setting of the Ferdinandihof in the Wehrgasse in Wien-Margareten.
The hosts, the Latin America representative of the FPÖ Political Academy and former Third President of the National Council Martin Graf, envoy Walter Gehr and Walter Asperl welcomed the many guests to a fascinating evening. Guests from the fields of diplomacy, politics and public administration included the Honorary Consul of Guatemala, Gabriela Schallehn-Schmidberger, General Director and Ambassador Teresa Indjein, Martina Habsburg-Lothringen, Federal Council Member from Vienna Johannes Hübner and the former President of the Patent Office, Friedrich Rödler.
Martin Graf gave an insight into the work of the Austrian Society of Friends of Latin America and the Austria-Paraguay Society in the last 18 months with their diverse projects which had been successfully continued despite the many months of lockdown. In particular, he focused on the social and educational support given to a German school in Paraguay.
In his speech, Walter Gehr reviewed the status of Austria’s past and present Latin America policy and the outlook for the future, highlighting the possibilities for an intensive exchange with the Latin American states and their citizens.
The evening ended on a convivial note amidst lively discussions between the guests.
