New Publication: "The freedom we mean!"

This publication "The freedom we mean!" provides a systematic overview of the historical development of the national liberal camp in Austria and the Freedom Party of Austria from its ideological roots in the 19th century to the present day. Starting with the liberal-national movements of the 1848 revolution, the volume traces the role of national liberal actors in the parliamentarianism of the Habsburg Monarchy, in the First Republic and in the political upheaval after 1945. It describes the emergence of the FPÖ from the Association of Independents, its programmatic and personnel changes, and phases of opposition, government participation, crisis and reformation. 
The historical account is supplemented by overviews of election results and party leaderships as well as the current party programme, making the publication both a chronological account and a concise reference work on the organisational and ideological development of the FPÖ.
