Elisabeth Schwetz studied Law and Romance Studies (Spanish as her chosen language) at the University of Vienna. In 2007 she was the top candidate for the Ring Freiheitlicher Studenten (RFS) in the election to the Austrian Students' Union.
From 2006 to 2010, Elisabeth Schwetz worked as a parliamentary assistant to Lutz Weinzinger, the Upper Austrian regional party chairman of the FPÖ and member of the National Council. She then became an advisor in the Freedom Party Parliamentary Club with a focus on labour and social affairs and health. From 2013, she was the office manager of the Third President of the National Council, Norbert Hofer, and from 2015 she headed the office of the Upper Austrian Provincial Councillor for Infrastructure, Günther Steinkellner. As head of the facilities department at the district administration of Perg, she gained experience for her role as district governor and chairwoman of the social welfare association of the Wels-Land district, which she held from 2018 to 2024. At the end of November 2024, MMag. Elisabeth Schwetz, nominated by the FPÖ, was elected as Ombudswoman by the National Council.
