Legal Basics and Tips: Social Media & Press Releases

On July 17, 2025, a practical seminar on “Legal Basics and Tips: Social Media & Press Releases” took place at the Hotel Pannonia Tower in Parndorf. Under the direction of attorney Dr. Niki Haas, a media law expert from Vienna, participants received a thorough overview of the most important provisions to be observed in press releases, social media posts, and publications in the municipal newsletter.

The aim of the event was to present the complex legal situation in an understandable way and to provide political actors in municipal and state politics with tools to avoid legal pitfalls. Among other things, the relevant provisions of media, copyright, and data protection law and their practical application were examined.

Dr. Haas placed particular emphasis on specific recommendations for action on how content can be created, shared, and distributed in a legally compliant manner. Participants also had the opportunity to contribute their own practical questions and discuss them with the speaker.
