Excursion to Brussels
Module IV of the European Academy
From 12 to 15 November 2025, an excursion to Brussels as part of the ‘EU on the ground’ module of the European Academy took place to provide a compact and practical insight into the political work of the European institutions.
The programme included discussions with members of various political groups in the European Parliament, an introduction to the tasks and working methods of the Parliament, and the opportunity to watch a plenary session in progress from the visitors' gallery.
Other items on the programme took participants to the House of European History, the European Commission and the Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU. Specialist lectures on current European policy issues – including EU migration policy and the work of the European Commission – provided deeper insights into key political topics.
A guided tour of Brussels was also on the programme. Participants gained a comprehensive picture of how European policy is shaped and what role Austria plays in this process.
