Europe-Academy 2025

On Friday, March 21, 2025, the European Academy kicked off with its first module on the general topic of "Foundations of the European Union." Participants were welcomed by President Prof. Dr. Axel Kassegger and program director Dietmar Holzfeind.

The opening event provided a comprehensive overview of the history of the European Union, particularly Austria's accession, as well as the EU institutions and bodies such as the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council, and the European Court of Justice. Furthermore, the role and significance of EU legislation and its influence on national parliaments were examined in detail. A special focus was placed on the patriotic EU parliamentary groups in the European Parliament, their members, and their objectives. EU asylum and migration policy was also addressed to provide participants with a current and critical understanding of the refugee situation in the EU.

The Europa Academy offers a sound basis for dealing with the complex issues of the European Union and creates space for exchange among participants.
