From 31.05. to 02.06.2023 the foreign module of the Europe Academy JG 2022/23 took place. In the course of this module, the participants flew to Brussels to be able to follow the work of the individual EU institutions such as the EU Parliament or the EU Commission.
On the first day, the participants went to the EU Parliament. Here an exchange of ideas with the members of the FPÖ delegation, Harald Vilimsky and Roman Haider, the president of the group "Identity and Democracy" (ID) Marco Zanni (LEGA) as well as with other members of the ID group was on the agenda. After the visit of a plenary session the participants went to the "Permanent Representation of Austria to the European Union". Here the participants were informed about the tasks and activities of the liaison offices by the head of the Salzburg office Michaela Petz-Michez. Afterwards there was a lecture on the topic "EU labor and economic policy" by Maria Wallner, Leterin of the department "Labor". The first day ended with a visit to the House of European History.
On the second day, the EU Commission and the Belgian Senate were visited. For this there was a guided tour by a member of parliament of the Belgian party "Vlaams Belang". This year's foreign module was rounded off with a guided tour through the old town of Brussels.
In the course of the Europe Academy, the participants were able to gain an overview of the history, organization and work of the European Union. Among the participants were once again numerous holders of political mandates. Not insignificant are also the contacts and friendships that could be made among the participants - also for networking, for example with European partners, the Europe Academy is ideally suited.
