Where is the journey going?
In our social and economic order, cash is a fundamental cornerstone for the economic and therefore individual freedom of the individual. Only those who can independently dispose of their income and assets at any time and any place are able to act independently of state surveillance and financial interventions.
The measures taken by EU and other supranational institutions such as cash limits and reductions in bank branches and ATMs point towards the introduction of a digital euro. The FPÖ has played a key role in the political discussion about monetary policy in Austria for decades: with the "Schilling referendum", the discussion about the euro rescue package ESM and initiatives to protect the existing status and repatriation of the OeNB's gold reserves. Now she is committed to preserving and protecting cash.
